University Hospital Bonn

The University Hospital Bonn (UKB) treats around 500,000 patients per year, employs approximately 9,500 people and has a total balance sheet of €1.8 billion. In addition to 3,500 medical and dental students, 550 people are trained in numerous healthcare professions each year. The UKB ranks first among university hospitals (UK) in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Focus clinic list, had over €100 million in third-party funding for research in 2023 and has the second-highest case mix index (case severity) in Germany. The F.A.Z. Institute has awarded the UKB first place among university hospitals in the category ‘Germany's Training Champions 2024’.

NUM DIZ 3.0

[...] Das NUM-DIZ-Projekt des Netzwerk Universitätsmedizin (NUM) setzt auf den Vorarbeiten der Medizininformatik-Initiative (MII) auf, innerhalb derer an den meisten deutschen Universitätskliniken Datenintegrationszentren (DIZ) etabliert wurden, mit dem Ziel, die Datenbereitstellung sowie die standortübergreifende Datenintegration und -analyse zu unterstützen. Im Rahmen des NUM-DIZ-Projekts bauen die bereits etablierten DIZ ihr Service-Portfolio kontinuierlich aus und erschließen neue Datenquellen.

NUM-RDP

The NUM Routine Data Platform (NUM-RDP) project aims to provide a generic routine data platform. "Routine data" here means clinical routine documentation data from patient care. In the first funding period, the NUM added the option of centralised, cross-institutional data consolidation, storage and output to the existing structures of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII) for federated data storage and analysis. Open Medical Inference (OMI)

The Open Medical Inference (OMI) platform aims to enable the discovery and use of remote AI services. OMI will develop open medical inference protocols and data formats for the semantically interoperable peer-to-peer exchange of multimodal healthcare data and remote AI inference. To this end, a repository of German-wide services will be established with an initial selection of multimodal AI models in order to enable researchers, through Medical Data Integration Centers of German University Hospitals, to access and run the developed AI models remotely.

FAIR4Rare

There are more than 6,000 diseases, each of which is extremely rare. In total, however, several million people are affected in Germany alone. A disease is considered “rare” if it affects no more than five in 10,000 people. The National Register for Rare Diseases (NARSE) serves to record as many affected people as possible in the long term in order to determine the health effects and care structures of these diseases in Germany.
