Plattform § 65c
Plattform § 65c is an expert committee that ensures ongoing professional exchange between clinical cancer registries in accordance with § 65c SGB V. It was established in 2015 with the approval of the Working Group of the Supreme State Health Authorities (AOLG) by the Ad hoc Working Group for the Implementation of the Cancer Early Detection and Registration Act and is designated as a ‘miscellaneous committee’ of the Conference of Health Ministers.
The platform members are one representative each from the cancer registries designated by the federal states in accordance with Section 65c of the German Social Code, Book V (SGB V).
The platform is an integral part of the comprehensive clinical cancer registration system, with its coordination office at the Saxony-Anhalt Cancer Registry, its internally elected spokesperson, its two networks (IT network and documentation network) and its numerous temporary working groups, and is also perceived as such by external parties.
Clinical cancer registries collect and evaluate data on the course of cancer so that oncological care in Germany can be continuously improved. All doctors who treat cancer patients – from general practitioners and tumour specialists to pathologists – report data on the course of the disease and treatment to the cancer registries. The registries evaluate this data and make it available to the reporting parties, researchers and other institutions so that they can evaluate and improve the effectiveness and benefits of therapies.
