The IFN is a non-profit educational and research institution in the field of animal breeding and livestock research. After its initial foundation more than 60 years ago, it was re-established more than 25 years ago with the task of establishing and further developing research, education and training in the field of farm animal reproduction. The IFN has positioned itself nationally and internationally with its research results, has secured a leading position in training and further education in the field of reproduction in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and has established itself as the reference institute in the field of spermatology in cattle and pigs throughout Germany. The institute's core competence of passing on practice-oriented education as well as bundling, structuring and processing practice-oriented research questions and making new findings accessible to a broad target group plays a central role in all research work.
